help...first time sooo confused

Cool day 7 for us. Intervened? Like an assisted hatch? Yea I gave to resist the urge to candle everyday!

Yeah, an assisted hatch. The first one that pipped had a brown tint to the membrane, I thought it was drying out but when I gave myself time to think about it later I realized that it was probably just blood from her pipping. I caused it to shrink wrap when I opened the incubator. I killed it plain and simple in trying to help when it wasn't ready.
On a lighter note, I'm really enjoying everyones posts of pipping and hatching chicks, I get so happy for everyone, especially since I do know what its like to hatch out chicks now.

By candle everyday that was an exaggeration as to how excited we are to see their progress. Im Leading a groups of children in the activity to we do try to candle weekly so they can make it to what we are researching.

Cool thanks guys will do. And trying not to stress I would just hate to have something happen and the girls be disappointed. This is their forst exposure to a true 4H type activity.

Make sure there is water in the channels at the bottom of the incubator, then start closing holes in the top to raise the humidity up to around 50%. Too low and the eggs will dry out.

I couldn't make that work. I finally built one from a plastic tool box and a 40W equivalent LED bulb mounted in the tool box. Cut a 1/2 hole in the bottom of the tool box centered over the bulb. Works great.

I tried using a box but I guess I did it wrong, always felt like I was going to drop the egg, my cel phone has a great light but I found that using a small high powered flashlight and my hand works the best and quickest.
