Geese in Minnesota

We bought a home with 5 acres of heavy woodland out in farm country.
Our winters can get very brutally cold. I am thinking of getting a few geese. We may or may not eat them. They will ofcourse get a heated home. What geese do you recommend? Will they stray far from their coop if not penned during the day?
 
We have been raising Chinese and one buff for about 2 years. You have to watch out for frostbite on their knobs. We have a wood stove in the barn and start a fire for them when it gets -20 or colder. We live on 10 acres and they stay close to the barn most of the time.

First... many people even in Canada and Alaska raise geese. Only lose feather breeds like Sebastopols need extra special care in very cold weather. All geese need a well vented, non drafty place to get out of the cold during the winter with a nice thick layer of bedding and fresh water.

PLEASE!!! give them a way to get out of the wind and bedding to warm their feet and do not risk your birds by adding heat! So many people have lost their entire flocks to fire by adding heat! Remember these wonderful creatures have down coats and as long as they can get out of the wind they will spend most of their time outside given the choice, even at below zero temps.
