I am new here to BYC. Well not exactly new, I have been reading the forums for a while whenever i have a question about chickens. I figured it is about time I become a member and take full advantage of what this site has to offer and try to take part in some of the discussions. My wife and I have had chickens for about four years now and it has been a great experience. My children also are very excited about our chickens and have taken a big role in caring for them. this year is the first time we have tried incubating our own eggs and i am very excited to see the outcome.
I am in the military and spend a lot of time away from home. And although i grew up on a farm with chickens, my wife did not and she has found herself forced to learn a lot of stuff to keep our hobby farm running while I am away. This year we expect to hatch our own eggs and also are expecting two of our fainting goats to kid. About the time this all was to go down, I was called away for schools and my wife and children get to experience their first ever hatch and goat births on their own.
I hope that we will be able to find answers to all of our questions (at least the ones pertaining to chickens) on this site so that we can better raise our critters.
Thanks to all of the people who post questions and answers on this site and for all the valuable resources available here as well.
