Chick Outings

@janet pesaturo the link you provided shed a lot of light for me. Thanks! I've been contemplating what kind of set up I'd like to have outdoors for my chicks and this is spot on!

Be careful the first week or two with the broodies. If they are going to fight and steal chicks from each other it will be in this time. Best bet would be to put them in a pen with see threw fencing between them so they can interact with each other without touching then when they all go with the regular flock it should be almost seamless.

Right. Thank you for that.
Last time the silkie was a great mum and seems to be again. It's the Shamo's first clutch so I'm hoping she is just as good and they simply share responsibilities but I doubt it'll be that easy.

@luv2bmomjen Haha same! Glad I'm not the only one out there thats overprotective. My parents and boyfriend keep making fun of me for it -saying "Justine, they're just chickens, not babies!" I guess I need to cut the cord, give my babies their space and not worry so much!

@mortie Thanks so much! Your post was very helpful. I like the idea of the little pen you built. It will make me relax and not be so uptight when I put them outside. I think i'll make something similar!
My name is Justine too. :)
