Hi everyone! Just joined today, but I've been reading this site for months! This is such a great site with so much information.
Forgive me in advance for all the questions I'll be asking :) I live outside of Buffalo, NY and will be (soon to be) a first time chicken owner, meeting with the town board tonight for approval of my chickens. If all goes well my chicks will be delivered in another week. After reading and researching I think I'm finally ready! Now if this snow will ever go away! Looking forward to learning from your experiences and sharing mine!

Hello,

I am new to this also, in fact, today is my first day. I recently decided to get some chicks and have been using this site as I learn all I can about raising my new 7 bantam chicks. They are finally out of the brooder and I have them set up in a coup I built myself with a run attached. The setup is big enough that the chickens have room to roam, and with my eldest son's help, we can scoot it over so that they get new grass... They love moving day!! Anyway, wanted to say hello and welcome...

What type of Bantams do you have?
What state are you in?
 
I have no idea, they are all different. I got them from the assorted bin and thought that having the variety would be interesting. I live in Texas, so we are already hitting in the 80s during the day and staying at about 60 at night....

Your weather must be nice.
We have dropped to freezing at night for the past few.
It even snowed!!!

It is nice right now. I have been out in the yard doing a ton of work, planted my garden, mowing and trimming, painting and resurfacing, and of course my chickens, they seem to change every day, one of them is even starting to get a waddle! I was hoping to have drawn at least on rooster so that in a few years we could have chicks, but it is impossible to tell!

Me and my girls picked a bunch of different varieties...wyandote, barred rock, rhode island red, sussex, braham, and easter egger. and one rooster, a jersey giant. I've read they are all cold tolerant and with the winter we had this year they need to be!
