We have almost the identical setup; we have the same predator set here in PA and have only lost chickens while they've been free ranging. Our chicken are locked down inside coop at dusk, but our kennel fence and hardware cloth have not been broken into yet. Our top of the run consists of some sturdy wire, strung back and forth trough the chain link. And then we overlaid poultry wire in strips. The odd corner shapes were easy to cut, and we used additional wire to secure them. Since for us it's mostly for daytime predators, it's not meant to hold up against a determined coon but I imagine you could do the same with heavier gauge wire and fence, or supported from below or the side with some wood or PVC framing.
