how do I train my new pullets to roost on the branch I put in the coop?

Oh then you should defiantly come by in late July or early August when it gets up to a 130F in the shade and the carpet gets so hot ya need to have your socks on at a minimum to walk around

Not a lot of places where you see people daily watering the house to cool it off

I have 4 Swamp Coolers on the house and after 105F they really only move the air around and every room has a celling fan and the house is more then insulated past R40 but to have it really nice and cool a person needs to have refrigerated air conditioning to gut the house under 100F and lower but then there in more money into the cooling system then the house is worth but there are many homes that have it ...

We are hijacking the OPs thread a bit. I used a window AC just a little bit during the summer. South facing un shaded room. But I prefer the swam coolers. as long as there is a window open to let the moist air out I find they bring the room temp down at least 10 - 15 degrees. No matter the temp outside.

I see you have geese and Chickens..... And I am certain they have adapted to the heat... What strategies have YOU used to help them out. some of that info May be helpful to the OP.

No the AC wont work the kids and grand kids running about .....

Yes I have to put straw down on the ground and get it wet to keep it in place or the ground is just to hot for the bird's to walk on and also many feet problems accrue also wet blankets in the heat of the day over the coop .....
