Rooster babysitting

I have several eggs that should hatch this weekend. My rooster seems to be "standing watch". He's been staying next to the box all day. He doesn't seem to be Interested in being in there...just kind of hanging out next to it. Is this a sign? He's not stayed in the coop like this before.

That's so cute! I love when the roosters get involved. I think it's funny when they make "rooster nests" and try to show the hens how and where it's done. I have a little rooster who raised two babies by himself (under a heat lamp) after mom lost interest in them. Some of those roosters have big hearts!
 
My rooster spent a lot of time hovering around my broody. He would sit as close to her nest as he could and make a purring/crooning sound. The chicks are now a week old and he has been gentle and protective to them.
