I set 48 Olive egger's and Easter egger's on Good friday. This is my first go at an incubator. I may not have them hatch on Mother's day, but I will have chicks that weekend. I also have a broody sitting on chocolate eggs covered by an OE roo. She is due on May 2nd. either way it will be fun.

Since no one played along, I'll just post my hatch that ended up hatching on friday and saturaday instead of Mother's day.
My first hatch is over. I started out with 48 EE and OE eggs. My first chick came out on the 19th day. Then the others came out on the 20th-22nd day. I had 4 zip or put holes in the shells but not make it out on day 20. Day 22 The last 4 where doing the same peeping but couldn't get out of the shell. So I helped them out. I had 20 hatch in all. I'm not sure if the last 2 will make it they look very small against their hatch mates.

So cute! I just recently incubated for the first time and absolutely loved it. Great learning experience for my kids. We have maran eggs and light brahma eggs due to hatch on the 15th. We are excited.

I have my first hatch due on the 18th, only 3 days after yours. The whole process is just thrilling!

This is our second time incubating and we've had really bad storms here resulting in two power outages. I candled Friday and 25 out of 30 eggs had growing chicks in them. Fingers crossed for a good hatch.

Thanks for the posts

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one just learning to hatch my own eggs. I thought it would be a cool thing for the kids to watch and learn the cycles. With the cost of chicks going up my incubator will pay for itself this year LOL.

Out of the 48 I set. I have 19 now. I lost the last one I helped to hatch last night. It wouldn't eat or drink. Darwin! I am collecting again.I will change a few things. I think my humidity was just too high to begain with. I'm in the humid south so I'm not going to add water to start with. On lock down I will fill all the water trays up. The generic how to book that came with my bator wasn't that great.

I have an Olive Egger roo and Americana roo over black copper marans, welsummers, americanas and olive eggers.

The term mutt comes to mind. AKA Easter Eggers. Fluffy cheeks, beards and green to grey legs. Some end up with feathers on thier feet from the maran's. I do it because everyone who buys my eggs loves the colors. You just can't get green eggs at the market
