I hatched out a pea chick in my incubator and had to help it out of the shell after 16 hours of pipping. It seems unable to hold it's head up. It twists to the side and cannot raise it up. I have been hand feeding and watering as best I can. I also gave it a dose of B complex and vitamin E a couple of hours ago. Is there anything else I can do? I really don't want to lose this chick! Right now my plan is to continue with the vitamins every 3 hours.

I'm not sure why no one has responded, maybe because nobody knows the answer, so I'll tell you what I have been doing for him. I have been feeding him superworms which have been drowned in vitamin b complex, vitamin e, corn syrup and water. I have also been assisting him to make sure he gets something to drink with every feeding. I feed him around a dozen huge superworms a day. I have to fight him to get them down, but he seems to be improving. He is bouncing around the little outdoor enclosure I have for my week old chicks. The high is 89 today, so it's nice and warm and he stretches himself in the seun. He seems to be having a good time even though his neck is still quite crooked and his little toes are crooked too. He is able to stand on his feet today though, and even does a little "flying", clumbsy tho it may be. I have also been massaging him at every feeding, straightening him out and massaging him all over, but concentrating on his neck muscles. He seems to like it. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. Maybe I posted in the wrong section???

I think you are in the right section but a lot of us can only respond to something we know about. I'm sure a lot of us have read your message and thought 'I don't know what to do for that problem'. I've never had peachicks before but I'm sure they are like most all bird babies.I haven't seen your problem before but It's sounds like you are doing everything right.
Please keep posting and let us know how the little one is doing.

Day 4, he seems to be improving. I caught him taking a drink by himself, and he pecks at the food, not sure if he's getting any. His craw was pretty empty this morning, so I am continuing with the superworms drowned in the vitamin mixture. I also gave a drowned mealworm to a duckling yesterday that was very weak and unable to stand. Today he is partying with the rest of the chicks. I may be on to something.

That's great. Evidently the neck muscles weren't fully developed and were weak. But the extra protein and vitamins seems to be saving the peachick. Good job!

Where can I get the vitamins mixture as I have a pea chick that can out of the egg that way as the baby is a large pea chick. And how do you make the mixture Please?
