I have a couple of duck & just recently I thought I had this duck thing figured out I got four more & these four won't eat the duck feed but will eat the dogs food out of his bowl. If I don't allow them to get to the dogs food they won't eat!!! Is this normal & more importantly is it healthy?

They also eat mieliemeel porridge as a treat on weekends, but nothing else? Not sure what to do, please help?

Thanks

Dogfood won't provide them with what they need. Just remove it. They will have to eat their food eventually or starve. They won't choose to starve with food available, so problem solved.

How long have you run that little test - because my first inclination is to think that you likely didn't wait long enough out of concern for them "starving to death" and they won the hunger strike when you relented. Especially when factoring in the porridge you also make for them. In short, they are spoiled. Think of it this way - the dog food is, to them, like junk food is to humans - given the choice, most people will eat the junk food over the "healthy" food because the junk food tastes better. It is normal that they are attracted to and want to eat it, but it is not the best diet for them.

Thanks for all your suggestions, Think I'm going to keep the dog food away as well as the porridge for a couple of days till they eventually give in I took these four over from the people next door & I'm thinking they just fed them dog food I don't have this problem with any of my other duck? What do you think, could that be the problem?
