Well, I ALMOST made peach pie.. maybe next time.

I made pies today and shared some pictures in a post about my secretive chickens. Someone mentioned chickens being afraid of being made into pies.. and that led me to say that I had baked all day.

I got my recipes off line, and wanted to share them.
I am going to link to them as I don't think I should copy them here.

Here is a picture of the apple pies!

Keep in mind, I changed the recipe a bit.
This recipe does not coat the apples with flour and spices,
but you make a sugar creation to pour OVER the lattice top before you bake it. I found the pie a little boring that way last time that I made it.

This time I added 1/2 C white sugar, 2 TBS flour, 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1/8 tsp nutmeg to the apples before putting them in the crust

Then I made Chocolate Chess Pie!

So simple, but I bet it will be SO GOOD!!!!

And here is one that I plan to make this Thanksgiving...

Caramel-Pecan Pumpkin Pie!!!

if you make them.. share your pictures. I LOVE looking at food pictures! mmm pie!

Beautiful pies, Fishermom! I've made the apple one from Allrecipes. I like to pour the syrup over the apples before putting on the top crust. Then I always sprinkle the top crust with cinnamon sugar. Mmmm! Just about pie-baking time here now that the weather is cooling a bit!

Ok, I have to pipe up! I made apple pies three days ago, and I collected about 15 little peaches off my dwarf peach tree- they're purple! I had to peel off the fur (thick coat) and wasn't left with much peach, so I made that one peach/apple.

I love to make my apple pies with garam masala or a curry paste- just a little. It kicks the flavor out of the apples beautifully. I also use a gourmet DARK molasses brown sugar instead of white sugar. It doesn't need much, so each pie gets like 2T of sugar total, which helps me justify hubby eating it- he's diabetic. I also pile up my apples more than twice the height of the pan, because I love a tall pie. I wish now I'd taken pics, but this just means I'll have to bake some more soon! Wheeee!

garam masala in apple pie?? hmmm!!! That sounds wonderful! Could you share a recipe?

wow!

oh, and I like making mile high pies too.. but I have to travel with these.. so I made them normal sized!

FisherMom, I am one of those people that doesn't use recipes...but I'll pay really close attention and write down what I use...I can't even begin to guess! It just goes in order...okay, now this...ummmm, that...this...I should write all of this stuff down for my girls, though.

For fruit we end up with at home, or get from the farmer's market, we also make fruit compote and spoon it over 'blinna'. It's a bit like a crepe, from an old family recipe a billion years passed down.

I have gotten that one down because I taught my daughters, so I'll post that later, on a new thread. I'll post the masala apple pie this weekend.

Thanks for starting this thread!

I am not one for apple pies too much until I tried putting in a large handful of black walnuts mixed with the apples1 OMG it is sooo decadent!
