Plants in your aviary.

I think palms are pretty safe, but you may need to research the particular variety you have in mind. Some (or maybe all) palms produce fruit and you need to make sure the fruit is not toxic to animals. I was reading about some type of palm last year that was not recommended if you have dogs because several people had their dogs die from eating the seeds. Birds seem smarter in that they know what they can and cannot eat so I don't worry about them, but I am probably more lax with plants than other people.

windmill palm, and pindo palm are good ones. I have a sago palm in my pen, and sagos are said to have toxic seeds but mine has never seeded. The sago grows the best for me. I had a nice little windmill palm that after a month or so of planting it just died. Our house has a large pindo palm in the front so I took a baby from the large one and grew it in a pot for at least a year then planted it. So far it is doing well.

Palmettos are really cool looking and native to here so I don't think they are an issue as I have seen them around ducks, turkeys, etc.

I bought a windmill and I'm not sure what this kind is?
