I think it was about 7-8 weeks for full feathers coming in for my chicks. You can usually tell if the feathers cover all spots and the tail is feathered.
7 week chicks losing feathers!? - Page 2
how long does this last? Because I'm tired of my coop looking like a pillow factory exploded. Mine will be 13 weeks tomorrow and there is always feathers everywhere. They don't have mites or lice, getting plenty of food, plus BOSS plus whatever they forage (they free range during the day). They all look good, no one is bald or straggly looking. I have always been told they will molt several times before they start laying, but that seems like a LOT of feathers. . . but there -is- 44 juveniles out there. the laced wyandottes patterns have improved, but I am hoping they improve a bit more.. . .when will their 'finished' feathers be in? close to POL?
I love the question cause was going to ask my self . Interesting part for me is that only my three silver duck wing phoenix rooster the lost the feather on there backs there only 8 weeks and they are getting loads of protein all the otheres are fine though so i sorta found it interestinG and something to look in to . Any information is good thanks
May just be baby feathers. Only two of mine, at that age, lost theirs, but it was a mess for awhile.
