Actually, the fun of it all is pretty much that:
if a food isn't 'sharp' (peaches stones have a nasty spike at one end) or otherwise somehow dangerous, then offer it to them. It will be Yummy for Emus or Not Yummy for Emus.
These threads abound with stories of the different things emus like to eat. I was having pasta salad on the step by the house one morning -- no fences, tame-wild birds -- and went to get a glass of water.
While I was away, Greedy plonked herself down and scoffed up most of it.
