I was sold 2 DB Pullets (90% guarantee). But, as they get older (they are just over 4 weeks in these pics), I'm pretty sure I have one pullet & one cockerel. Can anyone confirm gender?

Chick #1

Chick #2

It's #2 who I think is a cockerel instead of pullet. They are the same age & from the same hatch yet #2 has half as many feathers and some of them are coming in looking way different than #1 coloring-wise. I can't keep a rooster, so it would be great if they were both pullets.

#2 is a cockerel. Those white patches showing on the wings are masculine.

That's exactly what I was thinking. DH isn't convinced, and I did say I'd wait till it crows or lays an egg to decide it's fate. Just bummed that I won't have a DB if it really is a he. (Chick #1 is my friend's chick - I am raising it along with a few others for her.)

Male and female markings on DBs are quite different. Look at photos of the adults and you'll see what I mean. But yeah, males get white wing patches, females never do. The comb is starting to change, too. This is not a maybe or a guess.
