I have 2 Welsummer roosters attacking me. One, Sam, actively seeks me out and even knows my voice when I'm outside. I can get 500 ft. away from him before he runs and gets me. This is every time I hit the yard. Which is 3-4 Times a day. I have also Dean, who only attacks me if Sam does it first.
Should I get rid of both roosters? Will Dean stop attacking me if Sam's gone? They are 1 y.o. next month and the spurs are an inch long.
Oh, broom handles, canes, sticks, my foot.....nothing keeps Sam away. :(

There are too many good roosters out there to put up with this. He is a danger to anyone, including kids. Sam needs to go.

The way you describe them, Sam is dominant and Dean is subordinate. When Sam is gone, Dean gets a promotion. That is a big change in responsibility. You don't know for sure how he will act when he has all that responsibility. I don't know if Dean will continue to attack without Sam leading he way, but personally I'd get rid of both and start over.

The only reason you need a rooster is if you want fertile eggs. Everything else is personal preference. Many people have a free ranging flock without a rooster and are quite happy. Do you really need a rooster at all?

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Instead of trying to keep it away, have you tried acting like a chicken and getting dominant with it? Grab it's neck, push it's head down on the ground, and put your other hand on his body.

If you can't get him to stop why not just get rid of one and see if that fixes the other?

It's time to try a crockpot. Sam needs to be introduced to some noodles.

Then see how Dean behaves. If he follows in Sam's footprints try him with dumplings.

I was always a Dean girl, myself

Get rid of Sam and see how it goes. Dean could be a jerk on his own, or he could live happily ever after with Lisa, er, I mean, your hens...

I believe I will cull Sam first. I can't give him away if he is attacking people. Besides myself, he's gone after my 84 y.o. Mom.
(Dean is safe for now from Abbadon, Crowley and Megatron. ;) )
