Hi all

We had an absolute nightmare scenario when letting our geese out of their night shed yesterday. One of the female yearlings wobbles had caught her beak on some mesh welded fencing (Used to seperate the nesting mum from the others).
The end result was that she split her top mandible from the tip to her right nostril and it was just hanging on.
Needless to say, we were really upset, we isolated her from the rest and our local vet has since rebuilt her beak with some impressive sculpturing. We wanted to keep her isolated but she was so keen to get back to the flock so we are now keeping our fingers crossed.

The pictures show wobbles with her injury and then being fixed up. We will let you know how she does. This weekend I'm redesigning tbe inside of tbe shed.

I thought I should update you all on our yearling and her beak. On Thursday the resin fell of her beak. Whilst not bleeding the open wound needed further support so our local vet decided on two options. One was to put her under and see if we could glue wire the wound close. The main concern was that the end of the beak was not getting blood. But closer inspection under anesthesia identied a good blood flow. The other option would be to cut away the damaged beak. Fortunately, we have tried the former and to date, 3 days later so far so good.

Thanks for the kind messages. :love
