I'm dealing with a respiratory infection with some of my chickens who share 2 joined coops with 1 of my geese... Can I or should I put Corid in his water as a precautionary measure. I purchased 8 baby chics over a month ago which turned out to be sick... 4 died... and even tho they r in a brooder n my house my existing flock is showing shows of it.... One hen had bubbles n her eye... Just one of the many symptoms the babies had. I purchased Corid and VetRx today just doing more research before tomorrow comes n I get them started on the meds... Also I do plan on separately my goose from the hens for now. Any advice would be awesome thank u...

Oh, how sad. If it were me, I´d separate the goose from the chickens, just to reduce the risk. Geese don´t usually pick up things from chickens, but you will have to keep an eye on her, just in case. Do you use ACV? That could work as a bit of a preventative for her. I hope you manage to save your chickens.

Thank u! Yes I do have ACV on hand. How much should I put n his 5 gallon bucket of water? And yes I have separated him from the chickens. Also instead of useing Corid I opted for sulfadimethoxine in their water. Now I just pray I get good results...

5 - 10 tbsp for 5 gals. I tend to put less in, also lets the goose get used to it. If you feel it´s doing ok, you could always push it up a bit, if you´re concerned. ACV is a good preventative, helps with a number of things. Hope all goes well for you there.

Sasha, I was just reading on another thread about a disease called micoplasma, where the person had a sick gosling that passed on this disease to other birds. Seems quite serious. So, in this case, geese can get it. The post is on the Goslings 2014 thread. I hope yours don´t have the same infection. A recommended treatment is Tetracycline. I don´t know how that compares with what you´re using, but as geese can get this micoplasma, it may be good to look it up and treat the goose if your think it´s appropriate.

I put 5tbsps of ACV n his water... I do have tetracycline on hand... Left over from what I had previously treated the baby chics have that started this whole mess anyway... It's nice to FINALLY kno on a medicine I can give him... Although he seems fine... No signs of anything wrong with him what so ever but after seeing my hen Sparkles with bubbles n her left eye I started panicking... She's the only 1 n my existing flock of 8 that has a symptom that that baby silkies had.... As a precaution I'm treating all my birds.... I'd rather be safe then sorry! I'm going n the coop here n a little while to treat Sparkles with some VetRx under her wings and around her face.... I hope it gives her relief... Her eye looks swollen with bubbles in it.... Weird thing.... 3 of the 8 babies I had purchased have never had any issues what so ever and they have all been together the whole time.... The 4 that died had pasty butt, popping n wheezing while breathing, some had eye discharge, bubbles n eyes and 1 was gasping for air for 8 days strait... I've cried a lot this past month never having experienced a thing like this n 6 yrs of raising chickens n geese... It's been brutal on my heart! Maybe these symptoms I describe to u may ring a bell of what it may be.... Also the babies r growing at all different sizes although they were the se size when I got them. Maybe that's a clue as well.... I will read up on The thread u suggested.... Thank u for everything... Ur an angel!

I hope you manage not to lose any more.

Thank u! I really appreciate ur insight on this matter.... I raise my chickens n geese as pets and they r very much my kids.... They r a joy r have :)

Ok as it stands today I'm believing this has nothing to do with my sick baby chics that I have n my bedroom.... I'm leaning more towards fowl pox... My effected hen n the coop has pox on her waddles and 1 right next to her eye... The eye that has bubbles and is swollen.... Do to the high number of mosquitos here I can see why! The VetRx I put around her eye, beak and under her wings has helped her eye a lot.... I feel happy knowing this isn't something from the new babies as previously thought... Just happens to be happening around the same time.... I figure Ill still finish the 5 day course of the meds since they r already on day 3.... Ill keep the updates coming.... All 3 of my beloved geese r doing great :)
