Greetings from GA!

Hello Everyone!
Just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. My family and I have been raising chickens for about 5 years in our part of NW Atlanta GA. We have been blessed with no real issues save for one dog attack. Others in the area complain about hawks but we have never lost any to hawks. MY husband built a very unique coop for our birds and one that has worked out veyr well for me as I had no desire to walk into a coop but I did want to participate in the care of the birds. Our ladies have plenty of room to run around although it is fenced in. They get to have the yard in the winter when I am not likely ot be out walking bare foot wink
We have had mostly RRs and Barred Rocks. Currently we have 3 old ladies a black hen (Blackie, got her from an old farmer), Buff Rock (Sunny), and a Leghorn (Snow) Yes my children named them all. We had a lovely hen named Rainbow which turned out to be a rooster smile We also have 23 chicks (Dellies, Red Stars, and Barred Rocks) that are about 15 weeks old. We have an odd ball that McMurray sent us that I haven't taken the time to research to find out what it is but we have enjoyed watching it grow.
Well that is all for now.

Wanting RIR, Marans, Pencil and Laced Wyandottes. My small flock is 6 Red Stars, 3 Black Sex links, 1 Pearl Leghorn, 1 Buff Idaknowhat, and one RIR that isn't doing his job!

Welcome,

I haven't been a member long but I'm totally addicted to this site and my chickens.   I have learned so much on this site and enjoy seeing everyone's pics I plan to try to post some soon.

Please do. I need to put pictures up as well. I have so much to learn still. Right now I am trying to get more knowledgable about what sex-links are. I hear that all the time and what makes a Red Star.
Well I'm off to bed!

I am so glad to see someone else here from Georgia!  There's a few of us here, but not like some places, like Michigan! Half the state must be on this website!!  lol

I used to live in Marietta, but in December we bought a 5 acre farm in Sharpsburg, GA.  It's about 45 minutes south of Atlanta.  I've got 24 chickens, 2 turkeys, 2 pygmy goats and 2 cats.

Welcome to BYC!!
