We have had our budgie for a little over 6 years. He has been like a member of our family, everyone who would come to visit loved him. He would hang out with you, squak, chirp, fly around and let himself back into his cage. He could even open the door if it was closed. Im telling you he was the best. For the past couple of weeks, we have noticed a change, he just wants to sleep all the time, sometimes at the bottom of his cage. He does this weird neck movement and while doing so he throws up seed. He will also let you pet him, where as before you could not touch him, that was a big NONO and he would let you know it. Also he will stay on my wife's and daughte neck to stay under their hair. My wife says he feels cold. We keep the house at 74 degrees during the winter, and now its fairly warm. Please if you could give us some advice to get him back to normal. We do try and feed him fruits and such, but now he wont even touch it. Thanks for any help you can give us.

Hello and

Do you guys cook with non-stick pans or anything non-stick?

What things has he been able to get to? Just because normally he won't eat it doesn't mean he didn't try it out. This is especially hard to keep track of when you let the little fella free range indoors, it's such a hazardous environment for them.

If someone accidentally hurt him, they may not have known, and if they did know, they may have been too mortified to tell. He could be recuperating from a body fracture, it's not too uncommon.

Him regurgitating food could be just a seasonal thing, our budgie (heading into his teens now) has always 'fed' his swing (after mating with it, lol)... But the sleeping on the floor of the cage is odd, are you sure it's not a female? I'd guess she'd most likely have laid eggs by now if so... But it almost sounds like broody behavior...

But, it could be an illness, or deficiency, if you don't have a budgie book for health you really ought to get one.

Best wishes.
