We're All Human (the problem venting thread)

Hey there! Long time lurker, first time poster. :)
Anyway, I guess I just need to vent about how frustrating it is to try and find a food without soy in it. Adding this restriction to my already super strict medically necessary diet has made buying anything almost impossible, my poor DH is so patient with me. So, i usually have to make EVERYTHING from scratch, and i do mean everything, which is just a ton of time i don't have with school and work right now. There are only two or three restaurants in our area where I can eat out, so date nights are getting harder. At school, i can hardly ever find a snack if i didn't bring it myself. And church functions are the worst! I never get to eat anything at those! I usually eat what I bring, but it's kinda lame. Or if I forgot to make anything, then I get to sit there and look pretty while everyone enjoys their food. I mean, there's a gluten free table, but if that was all i had to worry about, i would be living the good life! (Seriously, though, i have two different friends with celiac, and they feel bad for me.) Anyway, I just wish life could be just a little easier sometimes. I'll get over it. :)

I'm sorry :( I'm the same way. I can't eat wheat, corn, soy, rice, garlic, onion, tomatoes, I'm allergic to pesticides in non-organic food... I can't eat at any restaurants either. :( we should make a restaurant that we can eat at LOL

There are many types of pesticides in foods. Even organic has pesticides. Are you sure you're just not allergic to a specific type of pesticide? Maybe Atrazine?

Doesn't matter, though, if you have an allergic reaction you probably should just stay away from it.

I've always wondered how a restaurant that caters to allergy ridden folks like ourselves would work. :) sounds like a clustercuss! ;) ah well. Beginning the diet is the worst part. Gets better with time.

I've never considered a pesticide allergy. Do those only go on certain crops, then? Or to avoid them I'm assuming I would just have to go all organic...

Not sure what's happening on this thread right now, but anyways,

Dogs are always chasing around my chickens and I constantly have to chase them out of my yards, in my neighborhood you can't find a house with out a dog, almost every single one isn't tame to not attack chickens, and they're constantly attacking them and I have to chase them off. They're all cute and all, but I just wish they wouldn't attack my chickens!

I am having trouble with finding a job. Even the most basic of jobs like be a cashier or even seasonal work. It makes me mad that you have to be something really special to get even a cashiers job. I mean come on I have open availability and know how to handle money. It's just frustrating, just venting here.

It's hard. The interview is crucial. No matter what job you are applying for, appearing confident, professional and well-groomed is key. I've gotten jobs by expressing how hard I will work and how badly I want it (but not in a desperate way.) Just keep on trucking and applying everywhere! You can do it! :)

Thanks. I tell them how hard of a worker I am and that I can work when ever they need me, even show up nicely dress. For some reason, I just haven't been able to get one yet. One interview I was kind of made fun of because I couldn't math in my head. I told them if I have the calculator and the formulas I can do the math, but not in my head. For some reason the numbers get all mixed in my head. So, the guy asked me this strange question that had nothing to do with the job at all, if you took a roll of quarters and stacked them from here to the moon how much would that be.

I asked if it was a real question and he said yes. I am very good at handling money I told him, but it wasn't enough. Oh well their loss for missing out on someone who would had been a hard working and came to work on time and doesn't call out unless I am truly too sick to work.
