Hi All,

So if someone would have told me when my family bought our home that I'd want chickens someday, I would have thought they were nuts! But of course now I desperately want chickens.:) I am organic gardening and have an orchard and have a TON of crickets and other bugs on my property that I'd like them to take care of. They are destroying my garden and trees! Plus, I buy expensive pastured eggs from a local farmer and would love to have access to our own. That being said, my HOA rules are contradictory to me. My Town allows 7 per Lot. I'd talk to my neighbors before pulling the plug. I know many of you have experience with this, how do you read my HOA section on this? Thank you so much in advance!

4.11 No animal, bird, fowl, poultry, reptile or livestock may be kept on any Lot, except that a reasonable number of dogs, cats, parakeets or similar household birds may be kept on a Lot if they are kept, bread or raised thereon solely as domestic pets and not for commercial purposes. The Board shall have the authority to determine what is a reasonable number of dogs, cats, parakeets or similar household birds for any particular Lot, and the Board's determination shall be final. All dogs, cats or other pets permitted under this Section shall be confined to an Owner's Lot, except a dog... (rest of section is about dogs)

No animal, bird, fowl, poultry or livestock shall be allowed to make an unreasonable amount of noise or become a nuisance. No structure for the care, housing or confinement of any animal, bird, fowl, poultry, or livestock shall be maintained so as to be Visible From Neighboring Property. Upon the written request of any Owner, Lessee or Resident, the Board shall conclusively determine, in its sole and absolute discretion, whether, for the purposes of this Section, a particular animal, bird, fowl, poultry or livestock is a nuisance or making an unreasonable amount of noise. Any decision rendered by the Board shall be enforceable in the same manner as other restrictions set forth in this Declaration.
