New to Chickens in Magnolia Texas

Howdy, neighbor! I'm in Magnolia, too. :)

Hubby and I are working on getting our coop finished and expect to have it filled with chickens in the next week or so. If you ever want to bounce ideas off someone local, I'd be more than happy to chat!

Hi Pat from Magnolia Texas! We have a small chicken farm here too. I'm anxious to know how you did in getting started. We initially ordered Dominique but got some barred rock traits in some of the birds so we brought in Red sex links and black sex links from tractor supply and have hatched lots of chicks. We recently acquired two blue laced red Wyandotte and a Lavender Orpington. Our newest acquisition is a flock of Easter Eggers and a light brahma. A couple of people ordered mixed chicks straight run a month ago so I filled the incubator and one backed out and one is not ready now twenty five chicks are in my brooder a week later. Surprise! I guess you have to be prepared for that if you try to sell chicks! How's it going for you?

I have 72 chickens, 5 turkeys, 3 geese and 3 ducks. I'm selling chicken eggs and trying to establish a poultry business. I have 2 goats but they have been a headache so far. Sounds like you are doing well with your flock. Regards
