CHAPTER 11- In Trouble AGAIN!!!
The next day was pretty much a normal day. The biggest little rooster started crowing early to get the human out of bed to let him out. The human just shut the window and ignored him. He tried crowing louder. It didn't work. With great persistence, though, he got the humanlady to come out a little earlier than normal.
It was a little chilly the night before, so the grass was very chilly and damp. This just motivated the biggest little rooster to run faster toward his Ladies.
The day was spent wandering around all the neighbors yards, at least all the ones on the left. All the chickens were smartly avoiding the right hand neighbors yard for fear of the big brown monster.
When night fell, the Ladies walked the biggest little rooster home. He watched from the shed door to make sure the Ladies got home safe.

The next morning was Saturday. The humanlady was not feeling well, so she wasn't outside supervising. The biggest little rooster decided to sneak the ladies away on a picnic.
Unfortunately for him, the humanlady decided to step outside to do something. She still wouldn't have noticed if his little flock didn't pick that very moment to jump on the fence from inside the back neighbors yard. She walked back to open the gate to let the medium little rooster back into his yard.
The medium little rooster didn't think it was fair that he couldn’t play in the neighbor’s yard, so he crowed loudly. Before he could even think about what he was doing, the biggest little rooster crowed in response. They crowed back and forth a few times, and then the biggest little rooster saw her- the humanlady.
He had kind of outsmarted her though. She thought they were in the fenced neighbors yard. He actually enjoyed the look on her face as she noticed they were actually around the fence, in a far yard they had never been in before.
The Ladies were totally enjoying their picnic. They couldn't believe how the biggest little rooster managed to find such a perfect picnic spot. The sun was shining down warm, but the picnic spot was under a tree. The biggest little rooster had sprinkled a few flowers around for them to scratch in. As a bonus, the flowers were quite tasty. The biggest little rooster used his thick strong feet to overturn a boulder, and there was a cricket for each of them under it.
As they were chasing their crickets, the humanlady was there calling them. Aw, darn it, they didn't want to go. They went, though, and protested all the way.
When they got into the older neighbors yard, they saw the older neighbor, and hoped that since she was outside, maybe the humanlady would go easy on them. The ladies jumped up onto the little fence railing trying to look cute.
The biggest little rooster looked up at his Ladies. He wanted to jump up to be with them. He squatted down in jump-ready position. It sure looked high. He stood up. He squatted down in jump-ready position again, and wiggled his butt to get his spring going. It sure looked high. Could he really make it that far without embarrassing himself? He stood back up. If the ladies could get up there, so could he. He squatted down in jump-ready position, wiggled his butt, counted to three, and JUMPED. His big feet got all tripped up on the ledge, but he landed. Not gracefully, but hey, he wasn't a ballerina.
Then, they got the lecture. Not only did the humanlady scold him for adventuring so far away, but the older neighborlady joined in also. He just did what he always did when all four ladies were talking at once- he stared just past them, and thought about big ole fat and juicy worms.
When she was done lecturing, the humanlady walked toward the house. The biggest little rooster called his Ladies, and led them under the neighbor’s deck, where no humans could reach them. He was expecting a lockdown again, and figured he and his ladies would wait it out under the deck.
To his surprise, the humanlady continued walking. She didn't call them, or even look back. Wow, they got off easy.
It was starting to get a little dark out, so the biggest little rooster came out from his hiding spot, and called the ladies for their snack before bed. It had been another great day.

OOOHHH!!! Humanlady plaease take care of yourself and get to feeling better soon so you can enjoy the biggest littlest rooster's antics.
Thank you for the latest installement.
Take care of yourself!!

CHAPTER 12- Another Sunny Sunday- Treats and Visitors

The next morning, the biggest little rooster wondered if the Ladies would be locked up or let free. The last time he took them on a picnic, they were grounded for a few days.
Just when he thought it must be time for the girls to be freed, the humans came out and got into the big green 4-wheeled human carrier and rolled away. He and the Ladies waited and waited, and watched the driveway.
What seemed like HOURS (and actually was) later, the human carrier returned, and the humans spilled out. The biggest little rooster went to investigate, because they had some interesting looking things in their hands. It looked like it could be treats.
He ran back to the Ladies, hoping that the humans would follow him and let them out. When he got back to the coop, he crowed as loudly as he could. It worked!!! The humanguy let the Ladies out. The biggest little rooster did his little dance around the ladies, and then noticed the humanguy putting the treats on the ground.
"Let's go", he said to the Ladies. " Follow me".
The Ladies started pecking at the watermelon. It was juicy, and their pecking was sending sticky watermelon juice flying all over. The biggest little rooster was standing watching when he saw the other treat- pumpkin. He broke off a piece, and dropped it on the ground, and called to the Ladies. " Come here, beautiful ladies. Here is a treat we've never had before".
The Ladies trusted the biggest little rooster to only provide the best foods for them. So they left the watermelon to sample the pumpkin. When they were full, the biggest little rooster called the little flock, and he and the Ladies ran to dust bathe in the bushes.
The humanlady came out and was headed to the back of the yard. She was working on the fence. The biggest little rooster wasn't quite sure WHY they needed a fence, but he thought the humanlady was doing a wonderful job. He watched her for a short while, but the hammering was getting him nervous. Every time the hammer hit, his eyes blinked. He grabbed the Ladies and went to the older neighbors house, hoping for another treat.
Before he could even start crowing for treats, he noticed another human carrier in the yard. Being it's his job to greet all guests (his own, or neighbors guests), he ran back toward his own yard.
He knew who the company was- it was the bantam human. He got all excited, until the back door of the carrier opened, and a 4-legged thing came out. He stopped dead in his tracks. The 4-legged thing followed the bantam human back to the humanlady.
He thought the 4-legged thing was a baby cow, because it was white with black spots. The bantam human called it a 4-month-old Great Dane. HMPH, he didn't see anything great about that thing. They started talking about nonsense human things- something about wanting grandkids but only getting grandpuppies. He figured human women were harder to figure out than chickens. He was quickly bored, and ran to warn his flock that he was pretty sure grandpuppy was another name for dog- A.K.A. big monster. He figured this grandpuppy was also a bantam- because he had seen the bantam humans other Great Dane, and it was bigger than the bantam human.
All that thinking hurt his little chicken brain. He grabbed some quiet time with his Ladies. The quiet time, which lasts only a few seconds, isn't really quiet. The bantam Great Dane heard the noise and came running after them. All the chickens scattered in frenzy. The biggest little rooster led them under one of the rolling human carriers.
The crisis was averted when the bantam human clapped her hands, and the bantam Great Dane was put in the almost finished chicken run (Only needs a gate!!!) until it was time for them to go.
At the end of the day, the new chicken coop was still not finished. The nights were starting to get a little colder. The biggest little rooster wouldn’t mind moving in with the Ladies, but he sure didn’t want the whole flock to have to move in there too. It would be a horrible honeymoon with 8 sets of little eyes watching.
Oh well, maybe tomorrow.
