I want to learn more about Buff Orpingtons and Black Australorps and BOxBA

I currently have 11 BO and they are only 11 weeks old so I have not personally seen their egg production.
So I would like to know for the BO: (per hen)
-How many eggs do they lay per week?
-How large are the eggs on average?
-What shade of brown?

I am also curious about Australorps. I heard they are very similar to the BO but just a little smaller but lay a lot better.

I am also very curious on what the hens turn out to look like if you crossed a BO Rooster with a BA Hen or a BA Rooster with a BO Hen. If people have these crosses how to they compare to the individual breeds?

I really like both of these breeds because they have great personalities and look nice.

I am also interested in this. I have been contemplating getting either orpingtons or australorps for meat and egg production. I have also wondered about how a hybrid of the two would do for this purpose. So I look forward to the responses in this thread.

I would like to add if i may. Would the cross be as hardy as the other two breeds alone?

Bump. Still interested in the hybrid of both and what other people get out of these birds as an individual.

Research the Australorp and you will find that they were a hybrid from crossing Orps with Lanshans and some others to make a better laying bird than the regular orpington so your X would be stepping backwards. Orpingtons do not lay as well as an Australorp period.

Both breed are great. I have eaten several BO cockerels that were about 20 weeks and they were fantastic, but haven't eaten any BA's. The BA hens lay almost everyday. Out of the 5 I have I get 4 a day from them. The BO's used to be amazing, almost as good as the BA's, but this second year they have declined in egg production tremendously. Could just be my hens, but I don't know. The cross is possibly the most beautiful I've seen. This cross is what I aim to have as a whole flock. They lay great. All of the he breeds ages are good sized. I often times get a double yolker. Can't go wrong with any of these breeds, but just get some chickens and find out which you like best.

Here's the mom and dad. He is an old English BO, so he's a bit bigger than an average American BO. The mom is a standard BA.

These are the older hens from the cross that are about 30 weeks old. Out of all the hens I've had this cross layed earlier than any other. First egg from these were at about 16 weeks.
