I live in the Pacific Northwest, I have a two Chinese Weeder geese. A girlfriend bought them from a local farm store, turns out they were both females. They are almost a year old. We are actually thinking of butchering them, is that too old for eating? The reason we are considering this is I have a Rouen (female) who is broody, an three young Anconas (2 mos old). My weeders chase the Rouen away, they seem to think the ducklings are theirs. The ducklings seem to be very nervous around everyone, and run from the geese. What can I do to bring harmony back to our farm?

I would say, either eat them, or...
What do you want them to weed? What´s your set-up? Is there any way you can fix up a mobile pen that you can move around for them during the day to eat the grass etc, without bullying the ducks? They only need it to be 3' high, most likely. A light framed pen with hinges on the joins would make it easy to manoevre too. Depends how much you like them, really.

They are not too old to eat - We have wire fence panels - 3 feet high and I think about 8 feet long. We have bent them in half so that you can easily move them whenever and wherever - by putting several together you can make a moveable fence to separate your geese and ducks.
I was trying to find a picture that you could see the fencing in -I think from this picture you can sort of see how they go together - we use swivels or clips to join them.

Perfect example. And lovely pic, Nyssa with those little babes.

We live on 5 acres, and its fenced. The ducklings have their own pen, completely fence top bottom. etc. same as the chickens.Everyone is free range, the chickens and the duckling go into their pens at night. Weena (our Rouen) and the the two geese refuse to be penned. The geese are wonderful watchers of the property, and we have two dogs who watch over the geese. Its just since we got the ducklings that the geese have become so bossy. If I were to add some baby geese, would our geese take them as theirs or do you think they would hurt them? I have considered giving them a fertile egg, but they won't roost. And they have their own little house.

Sounds like a great place to have birds, and sounds like a very good idea to get them goslings, ore even their own ducklings, especially tiny ones, as the goslings or ducklings should imprint fairly well on the geese. Geese are highly unlikely to hurt any little fluffy things intentionally. Definitely worth a try, I´d say. good idea. And I love your avatar, too.

Sounds similar to my setup. Chickens, ducks and geese all with their own runs and coops but a shared free range. Everyone got along fine together until recently. The geese, three Toulouse, have gotten old enough that they don't want to share their space with anyone else. They chase the ducks and chickens with intent to do harm. We have just about finished building the geese their own, apart from everyone else, coop, run and access to several acres of free range that they won't have to share. If your geese are showing any aggression toward your chickens or ducks you might not want to put a baby bird at risk.

Thank you all for your input, was out this morning doing chores. While working in the chicken yard, one of the geese got hold of one of my chickens tail feathers. There was a lot of squawking and shrieking, my roo, whose name is "Roo" (hes a beautiful French Copper Maran) got all puffed up and went for the goose. Unfortunately I shoo'ed the goose away with the hose. I am wondering if I should have let Roo have a go of her? Its getting pretty bad. I am going to try to fence off the geese today, but they get so indignant and noisy when they don't get their way. If I give them a small goosling, i am afraid that they will really become a menace.
It just may be time to plate em!

Well, they´re your geese, and it sounds like you´ve had enough of them really. My geese never behave like this, so I feel differently about mine, of course. If you decide to eat these ones, then will you get some others? If the answer is no, then it´s probably best to have them for dinner. I think the answer is no, so enjoy your dinner!

If a child gets indignant and noisy when they don't get their way do you let them continue to terrorize the household? I say, put your geese in their own area fenced and secure for them and the other birds. If they are at this level of aggression when other birds are around a gosling probably is not the answer unless you want to see them kill the baby. Letting the rooster at them might have ended in the rooster being seriously injured. Geese are larger and stronger and can do pretty serious injury with their bills. You may want to go ahead and have them for dinner and give up on the whole goose thing.
