Ameracaunas from Ideal Poultry

I think the fact they say " not show quality" is the clue to their breeding. That being said, I ordered 2 from Ideal knowing what I was getting. They are both beautiful healthy birds. Both are bearded & have muffs. They are very inquisitive. I really like their personalities.

Yeah... If you watch the video on the Ideal Website, they tell you that they provide backyard chicken quality poultry. They admittedly don't provide show stock.

My only concern is that they may be bringing in stock from outside sources. I want the chickens from Ideal Poultry in Cameron, TX that are only 24 hours old. I don't want chickens from somewhere else brought in and sorted then shipped to me. Those extra days make the chicks a little to puny by the time they reach their destination. I don't know if this is something that they are doing but I have read that they may be.

I have never had a serious problem with Ideal chicks. Their Ameraucanas have pretty colors and a variety of the egg color (shades of blue and green). I know they are probably technically Easter Eggers but for my backyard, I don't know why anything else matters.

I know my Ideal shipment had to be newly hatched since they spent 5 days in transit due to Fed Ex shutdown. If they had been older, none of them would have survived. We ended up with 14/20 surviving.
