do they look ready to lay?

So the really big black chicken in my pictures above is without a doubt a boy, so this would explain the whole no eggs from him yet thing ....... he was crowing his brains out this morning LOL
 
Im going to run them in a tractor and move them twice a day in green grass. I heard several mixed experiences on how messy they can be....im expecting messy but once they are old enough to go out they will have a new spot every 8-12 hours or so. Are they a lot of work? My biggest concern is leaving them in the tractor over night....it will be pretty safe but you never know. I may run a hot wire around it after hours.
 
Haha.....not yet. I am all proud about having two sitting on the counter though. She's giving one a day pretty strong too. Only missed one day since she started. The others sure look ready but I've thought that for a couple weeks now.
 
Okay- Ive been getting the one hen that lays one a day and she only missed one day since she started, today I go out to clean,feed and water them to find an early egg.....I thought it was odd she laid so early from when she has been laying but no biggie.I clean head to the house and start thinking maybe it wasnt her.....so, I go out to find two sitting in the nest and they didnt run as usual when I opened the nestbox hood- they just looked at me as to say "do you MIND!" lol...so I shut it and now im sure I have three today.......BRB im going to check....tic toc tic toc Boom! three eggs today! I HAVE A QUARTER DOZEN EGGS!

Woo Hoo!!!!! We are holding steady at 8 (of 15) - but I am fairly certain that will change today/tomorrow as there were 8 eggs and one shell-less yesterday so someone new is joining the party!!!!
 
cool....exciting to have eggs finally. I have 5 more that need to take note. lol 8/15 is pretty good in the way of progress.
