I put last falls crop of over sexed cockrels into the Bachelor Pad for a few weeks, till I could decide who was staying and who was going...since they were brought up together and weren't quite into the Hormone Induced Stupids yet...they worked the pecking order out and no major feathers flew...but I just had to share a hilarious moment that occurred with people who know what I am talking about...this pen that the boys were in is at the far end of my chicken run...so the only thing between them and the rest of the flock was a temporary chicken wire wall....I went out one day with a loaf of old bread for a birds treat....I gave the main flock some and decided to feed the boys a few slices....when I tossed the bread in to the boys....They ALL started to call the hens and started "Tidbiting"...all 10 of them....strutting and dancing around the bread slices....it was so funny! The hens never batted an eye, ignored them completely. Finally one of the big Bhrama

cockrel had had enough, grabbed a slice and ran with it. That broke up the Tidbiting dance.

Question about my cockerel.... When do they get their manly feathers? Helios is big and beautiful and fertilizing eggs, but no apparent manly feathers. He is supposed to be a welsummer, but i only have a hint of the bright colors he is supposed to have.
