Hi All,
Despite keeping Gold Partridge Brahmas for 14 years, I have never had the opportunity to actually breed from a broody hen as they always go broody about 7 days before we go on holiday. This year our holiday was unfortunately cancelled, and, I let her sit. I only had two brahma eggs and got 4 more eggs from a neighbour. I now have 2 brahma chicks and 3 others. My question is what age can you sex a Brahma? I have homes if they are male and also what age I can introduce them to the rest of the flock? Two other hens and one Cockerel aged 3. They are very free range and kept in an arc. We have 3 acres of woodland which they roam freely in. Photographs are taken when the chicks were about 12 hours old.

I have six partridge brahma chicks that are three weeks old now. At two weeks I was able to make a fair assumption, and now at three I 90% sure of sex. But, I'm waiting until six weeks to get my final hopes up (right now I'm sure it's four pullets/two cockerel) because that's when many say you know for sure.

As for blending with the flock, I wait until fully feathered and what I feel to be "sturdy" enough to withstand some lessons from the flock. But I personally like to have them caged within the flock first, at least to get them used to seeing one another, and to see how everyone acts with some protection in between. Personally I've been comfy within a few days to let them loose together but times may vary.

Good luck!!

Thanks, so much for your reply. It was really helpful.
Is there anychance you could upload a photo? Thank you for the tips on integrating the chicks to the flock. At the moment they are kept in a rabbit hutch within the arc with the other chickens. They currently don't mix with each other. Thank you again.
