Lavender Ameraucana 4 weeks - cockerel?

Wow, I didn't expect anyone to say pullet. What makes you thin that Mountain Peeps? It is staying here either way. :) I just have to let other cockerels go if this one is male. :/

I would think that she would have wattles developing already and her comb wouldn't be as yellow if she were a he.

Hmmm. Is there anything to the 3rows on the comb? I thought with Ameraucana the 3 rows being distinct at an early age pointed to cockerel. Who knows where I read that.
So hard when I have no comparison. It was the only to hatch 6 lav am eggs (all the other eggs in that hatch did amazingly, so I have no idea what was up with that). I have a clear wheaten marans cockerel the same age with no redness or wattles yet. Darn impatience!

I've always heard the three row thing also, then some folks were saying they had layers with a triple row. I'm not sure I ever saw pics, but I'd think at this young age that would be male. Doesn't hurt to keep a it a while longer, though. It should pink right up fairly soon if it's male.

Pea combed birds don't get as much wattles as straight combed birds, so you can't really go by that in this case.

Almost 8 weeks now. I am starting to think Mountain Peeps may have called it! Best disposition of any chicken in my flock (44 strong right now), too. Cockerel or pullet, I may actually love this bird!
