This is my first time breeding rabbits
I will be breeding them this weekend

I heard that you need to take the doe into the buck's cage
and that you only need a few minutes before it's all done

however, i was wondering if i could just leave them at it for a couple of hours
one, to be sure the doe is fertilized
and two, to let them get their jollies off - i mean, they are in the cage all day long and i am pretty sure they wouldn't mind at all

i would like to seek wisdom regarding this process

what says you ole wise one ?

Yes, you want to bring the doe to the buck. No, it is not wise to leave them 'at it' for several hours unsupervised. Does can be quite vicious when they want to be and you don't want to risk damage to your buck or doe. Besides, if they're unsupervised and she isn't cooperative, you'll still have no idea if she's pregnant or not. More time together does not necessarily mean higher fertilization.
Just put them together and watch them. Wait until the buck flips over a few times, then remove her. You can, and it is a good idea to bring the doe back to the buck a few hours later to repeat the process if you want to be sure.
If she shows no interest, hides in the corner, starts attacking him, etc, you'll want to remove her and try again either later on or in a few days.
