Hello! I'll give some quick background in case it's helpful: A few weeks ago we got a new flock of 4 - 12 week old chicks: 2 bantams and 2 full sized birds. One of the bantams turned out to be a roo, so this weekend by husband found him a new home and brought home two full grown (year old I think) sex links.
Well, he decided to just throw all the birds in together to let them work out their pecking order. Things seemed to go fine last night, but there was some scuffling this morning and now the bantam is having some real trouble walking. She has really feathery feet and we had already commented that she walked kind of funny, but it seem to be more distinct today. We examined her feet and one one of them there's a small red sore that looks like it could be the culprit. We thought maybe her feathers needed to be trimmed, but there's nothing we could see about the feathers that could be causing the sore.
She's in a dog crate now separated from the big mean sex links, but faced toward the coop so she can see her buddies.
I looked up bumblefoot, and this doesn't look like anything as bad as that, but she is definitely having trouble getting around. Should we just wait to see if her foot heals, or take more proactive action?
TIA!
