After 2 different waterers failing for their own reasons (one stainless double wall fount and the other a 5 gallon float action from TSP), I decided to go with the big boy to keep from having to undo the hose the entire length all the time. I was so excited to get this thing filled and let the girls enjoy but after day 1, I've already run into trouble. The thing just keeps on flowing out. I've tightened the top enough but not too much because it says not to. Has anyone had any success with this waterer? Should I go ahead and tighten it until I can't tighten it anymore? I've wasted so much water within the past few days and the run is getting nearly too sloppy. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Is it missing the gasket in the lid? Double check that the gasket is there and fit properly. If it all looks okay, then try putting some petroleum jelly on the o-ring gasket. This will help it seal without the risk of over tightening. If that doesn't work, check for cracks or a pin hole somewhere. This type of drinker must be air tight to work.

Thanks for the reply. The O-ring is there. I had thought about slabbing some of the plumbers grease on it like I have to do when I change the whole house water filter.

I really want to use this waterer and have it work. When I get home from work, that will be the first thing I do. Thanks for the suggestion!

I think it's fixed. When I got home from work, the water was nearly all gone so I went for the little tub of plumber's grease. I filled the waterer to the top and slabbed the grease on the o-ring. As I was twisting on the top, I could feel the top turning much more than previously without the grease. It felt much better as it was turning as well. I think we have a fix and you've saved me another $50 or so. Thank you for the advice!!

I have one and I am really disappointed. Very poor design. What works today may not work the next time.
