In a "PERFECT WORLD" yes pigeons lay 2 eggs you are correct,

I would doubt any one could tell you with any certainty why this time you only got one egg. Age is a big factor. Not quite mature or getting to old as well. Diet is another part of the equation. Hope you have better luck next time it happens.

Sometimes only one squab survives. Sometimes they will abandon the squabs completely. It is part of the hobby of pigeon fancying. If this egg hatches and squabs survives I would pat yourself on the back and say you are doing a good job and all you can do. I know you are doing more thing right than you are wrong for sure. Good Luck Jhandha.

I have a hen that says she was born in 2013, I found out the seller used 2013 bands on 2014 birds, she laid 3 times and all was infertile,he just informed me of this,so I figure that is the reason, maybe your birds are still young, one if my best hens a few months ago laid just one egg, then she became sick,I thought she was egg bound, the egg was infertile and the hen I separated with her cock and medicated them oth,she seems fine now.

What are the medications if pigeons keep laying infertile eggs. I have two pairs of jacobins pigeons and this is the third time they laid infertile eggs. Only once a single couple laid fertile egg. Amd there was only one egg was fertile. Please advise and suggest some medications.

Thanks

the first thing I would do is trim vent feathers and the hood. then are they old or young sometimes it is best to mate a old bird to a young one they must have a space to mate without interruption these breed has been breed for long loose feathers and they need a little help are they in a coop with other breeds if so might need to separate breeds

This is very good advise. Trim the vent feathers of male and female.

Also breeds always give this breed a 'hair cut' so they can see clearly to take care of the eggs and squabs.

You may also want to check their diet to make sure they are getting all the nutrients they need. A good pigeon breeder seed mix and chicken layer pellets, together with minerals and pigeon grit.

You can also add some bird vitamins to the drinking water a couple times a week to get them into good condition..... Oh, and lots of natural sunlight helps them too.
