I have two white Pekin ducks. Since I am new to caring for them I researched a little and found that the male should be the bird with the curled tail feather. Also, the female is the one with the loud quack.

So, here is my dilemma... the largest of the two seems to be the male because of the tail feather. However, he is also the loudest quacker. Please tell me how I know otherwise which is male and which is female.

How old are your Pekings? According to your post on being able to see the tail feather (drake feather) I'm assuming that they are adults?

Basic rule of thumb: Girls = QUACK QUACK .... Boys = Rasp Rasp...

In some cases with Pekings you can tell as early as 4 weeks form their voice.

If you're able, record the voices and upload them here so we can help you out.

I don't think I need to record the voices. They are VERY distinct and exactly as I said previously. Maybe it will help if I explain it a bit better. The largest (almost a full 1/3 bigger than the other) seems to be the male because of the curled tail feather. However, THAT is the one with the loud quack. It is very, very loud when it wants to be. The other is smaller and docile . It seems to only have the raspy sound because it has NEVER quacked. The beaks are two different colors, the larger and louder one has a bright orange beak. while the smaller and more docile one has a dull orange beak. The larger one has much larger feet also, which is another reason we assumed it to be a male, and again... IT has the curled tail feather.

So, now what am I to use to determine the gender?
