Does anyone have knowledge on what native plants (or plants that will easily grow without a lot of fuss) I could plant in Florida for my ducks and geese to nibble on? I am not a plant person but would like to get something.
I know when buying plants from stores they have some form of residual pesticide on them. How concerned should I be with that? I know when raising caterpillars, I had to wait 4 weeks for the poisons to wash off in order for the cats not to die. What about my beloved birds?
Also, I keep seeing people talk about fodder grass. I always see that chickens like it but is it okay for ducks and geese to forage on when they are in their outside run?
here is the best link i have found on it. http://www.motherearthnews.com/homesteading-and-livestock/sprouted-fodder.aspx#axzz37paBewFL
If not fodder grass, I would like to plant some sod once we have their new house built. Their outside run is dirt right now. I feed them mazuri and let them forage in the yard a few times a week, but they dont eat alot because they are scared being out of their run.
So what kind of sod should I buy?
