I'm glad to hear that! Hopefully the post office cooperated and returned your money. They should.

Yes, really expensive dead bugs! Those were only about $25 each, x 24 in that shipment. Then the breeder didn't have any more for another six weeks when timing is critical to any bee operation. It turned out to be a really bad year costing me much honey production. Some special breeding queens can cost up to a thousand dollars.
I didnt go thru the entire thread, but i did get far enough to see he arrived, finally. Wonderful I worked for the post office for over 20 years. Im not about to go all 'stop picking on the post office' on you, cuz believe me, if you think they treat their customers bad, you have no idea what its like to work for them. Theres a reason people start shooting haha (but no, seriously). Anyhow, I just wanted to give you some information cuz I saw someone, or you maybe, thinking shipping from another office would give better results. Probably not. Heres why.
The first 3 numbers of your ZIP code is the hub your mail comes into and out of. MIne is 170- Harrisburg. Now the next two numbers go from low to high, in alphabetical order of the offices in that area. For instance. New Brunswick, NJ is 088. Some of the towns in that district are Annandale, Clinton, Flemington, Glen Gardner, and so on. Annandale's zip is 08801, Clinton-08809, Flemington-08822, Glen Gardner-08826.
You get the idea. Now, the mail truck that leaves the main district to drop off and pick up outgoing mail is the same for all post offices within that district, so going to any post office within that district, that mail goes on the same truck. Theyre independently owned. Not postal employees.
Every time I hear of a complaint with the post office, I cringe. There are so many very hard working and decent people there and believe me, I know first hand, a lot of losers. The PO is run very poorly and on top, is forced to work within union contracts. Every postal craft has their own union and collective bargaining agreement.
Also their tracking system sucks. Ive worked for Fedx also and their tracking and track record as a business isnt even a close comparison to the post office. If you have ay chance to use Fedx, do it! There was a time when the PO was very good (a long time ago lol) and now its just an embarrassment. Believe me. The employees know it too. And some of them are just outright spoiled, used to the federal pay and ability to hide behind the union.
I'm so glad you got your bird safely.
