So everything is done, the coop and the run, and the girls are now outside enjoying their much needed wing room. However, I have an issue with the ramp from their coop to their run. 4 out of the 5 girls can get back up the ramp with relative ease, but my little Marilyn, the Show girl Silkie cannot. I freaked out last night when I looked into the coop and she was not in there, and eventually found her huddle up in some talk grass under the coop.

The steps up the ramp are approx 5" apart, is there anything that I can add to it to help her get up the ramp? And any improvements I can make to it?

Great idea. I wonder if grip tape for skateboards would work too? And thank you, the experience of design and building everything was in the end rewarding

Ok well I found spray on texture paint that added a rough coating to the ramp, however my little Marilyn still is not able to get up. I am not sure if its just because of her being a Silkie and the way they are built makes it difficult to walk up ramps. But again I found her in the tall grass just roosting there. I feel so bad for her, I do get her and help her inside the coop. I am at a cross roads here as to what to do. I hate to have her always go to her place in the grass at night while the others are in the breezeway in the coop (they still have not gone into the actual coop to roost yet)

Maybe try making it longer so it is not on such a high upgrade for her, your Silkie is smaller then the rest so its harder for her to get up there. I would also put a 50/50 mix of sand and latx paint for better traction for her.

Well that is one problem I have, the space I have, I can't make the ramp longer. I will try the 50/50 mix, so you are saying simply put like one cup of playground sand into one cup of latex paint and that will work? Or does it need to be different type of sand?
