I've always been a fan of barnyard mutts. Hatching is a surprise, like Forrest's box of chocolates. Post your barnyard mix photos.

Striking color on this one. What is his lineage?
That guy was a home made bsl rooster over a gold laced Wyandotte hen. The roosters' father was something like a buff Orp x New Hampshire, and the mother was a hatchery barred Rock.
This guy obviously didn't get the barring....the bird behind him was the same bsl rooster over a silver laced Wyandotte hen.

This guys name was Debbie (thought it was the alpha pullet) surprise... Best Rooster ever. His father was a frizzle white cochin and as the women who gave him to me would say, his mother was a (read with accent) regaala chicken, He sired some beauty frizzled mixes.

Found this picture of a flock roosting. It's from about 8 years ago... Man time flies...

This is a cross from the best hen ever - an aracuna ... and a pure welsummer roo .... He is a teen here - but is now 1.5 years old and a grand roo ... got his mother's temperment, and is a great all around roo - now the daddy for all my colored layers .... he is super hardy and all his babies are the first to find food and water and none have died. That goes for the two other people that bought hatching eggs from me - so for a mixed backyard breed - he has given some really hardy and calm genes. :)

Can we see pictures of him fully feathered? How about shots of of his offspring?

Here he is .... The light is not showing him off well - his feathers are really shiny and the back long rust feathers are a deep color and his black feathers have that iridescence .... as you can see - I am biased in favor of this roo :)

In his teenage picture you can see some of the aracuna in his brown flecking and such - seems the welsummer colors came out as he molted into an adult male ... but his babies have that brown flecking :) Now - to see what they mature into .....
Good lookin boy
