Tomorrow is the day our six chicks arrive! :weee. We have been preparing since April building their coop and a brooder box. The brooder box is in our garage basement where it never gets above 75F degrees. Today I set up everything I think they'll need in the brooder box including: feeder with Nutrena chick starter, water with probiotics and electrolytes, plain water, EcoGlow brooder, two perches for when they start flying a bit, and a thermometer. I put doggie pee pads on the floor for the beginning and will switch to pine shavings after they get over the wobbles. I already had a surveillance camera so I set it up too so I can watch and listen the little boogers even when I'm away from them. The video is from that camera.

Did I forget anything? Being a first time chicken Mom, I'm really nervous but excited :)

My chicks are here! :love Picked them up at 10:30 from the PO. So lively and alert. I held my hand in the box on the drive home and they cuddled next to it. They settled in quickly in the brooder drinking and eating. My BFF Patty came over and helped me name them. I have some names in mind but it was easier once I saw them.

Georgette: Silver-laced Polish - the smallest, smartest and the most out-going of all. She already figured out the chicken nipples on the second waterer. ( my DH's name is George :lau )

Miss Betty: Australorp

Cornflake: Welsummer - they were featured on the Kellogg cornflake box

Opal: Easter-Egger

Goldie: Buff Orpington

Dottie: Golden-laced Wyandotte

Here's the whole bunch:
