My nephew and niece have recently acquired 6 rhode island red chicks. 4 weeks old. Almost immediately, one of the 6 has started bullying the others, pecking even drawing blood. They are first time chicken owners.

Rooster Peck no more medication does not seem to deter the bully.

At this age, what do you think is causing this behavior?

Thanks for your input.

How big is the coop and run if there not in one then try putting them in one maybe they just need more room.

I had them double the size of the area they Are keeping them as i thought that might be the problem too.
How big is the area? They will need at least 3 square feet per chicken so you will need at least 18 square feet of space the bigger the better. It also could be that it is just setting up the pecking order.

Thank you for your responses. The temporary coop and pen area have been increased substantially and it appears that the bully situation is lessening.
