This is my first egg from hens that are a little over 19 weeks. Was curious to know since I got one egg out of 6 hens, when will my others start to lay? Also how do I tell what's a hen and what's a rooster when none of them crow?

Most hens start laying around 20-22 weeks i believe and if they are all relatively close in age id guess they will all be laying within the next two weeks ! :) and for a roo if they are all
19 week and none are crowing yet they are probably all hens (now i don't know what kind of chicken you have but my roo's started crowing around 17 weeks i believe)

Hope this helps !

You can post individual photos - with age on "what gender or breed is this," and someone may be able to tell you. Some breeds lay early and others can take several months.

When they are approaching point of lay, a hens comb with get larger and redden, if you touch her back she will squat for you. When they start doing that eggs will be showing up soon.

Some males are prodigies and will try crowing at several weeks old. Some may not crow if there is a dominant rooster around.

Chickens start producing egg's from 13 to 30 weeks and some take a little longer .....

Congrats on that first egg!! From your pic, and it would be better if you had a closer pic, but they all look like pullets so far. Each bird matures at different rates and will lay when they are mature enough to do so. Generally sometime between 5 and 6 months of age. Make sure to get them on layer feed now and oyster shell on the side.

Good luck with your flock and enjoy that first egg!!

New layers take a while to get their egg laying machines in gear. The first eggs can be small, funky looking or even yolkless for a while. So give them a month or so and the size of the egg will increase and so will the frequency of the laying. :)
