Hello all! This was my first Royal Palm batch. The first baby started getting doting on his wings at one week of age. The other four are still missing their signature black marks and are almost three weeks old. Should I assume that they will not become Royal Palms? The man I bought them from had them with Midget Whites then I introduced them to my Royal Palm tom when I got them home. The hens are purebred and my tom was purebred.

Thanks!

Alright. Thanks! So there is still hope for these to earn their stripes. There is one that absolutely loves to be held and loves to go out to the barn with me to care for the other turkeys, chickens, ducks and rabbits. If it remains this friendly, I would like to train it to become a nice little therapy animal to take to schools around Thanksgiving time. It is always nice to spread word about turkeys and encourage future possible farmers.
Thanks again for the reply! We already have a show planned for these five babies in March. Do you think that they will be old enough to show? Or will it be a toss up?

Just an update, but all 5 Royal Palm babies have black markings on their wings now. They are 3 weeks and 5 days old. It was like over night that they all got some sort of spotting.

Sounds about right (though a few of ours - who turned out to be male - were pretty much unmarked until 6 wks old). Post some shots :)

Here are some pictures from yesterday's afternoon nap time. Brought them into the garage so everyone could get into the barn and lay their eggs without worry of the babies getting hurt.
