In May I bought some straight run Delewares (15 of them) I also have some other young roos on the place. Since Delawares are a duel purpose breed, I would like to put the males on fryer grower and keep the hens on pullet grower. At what point do people separate out the birds when they have straight run?

Last time I had straight run chickens (I hatched out 25, bought 25) I ended up with about 1/2 cockerels. I separated them when the cockerels started harassed gthe pullets so badly the poor girls couldn't even eat. In hindsight, I should have done it sooner. I put the cockerels in a grow-out pen for a few weeks before butchering them. They were just fine in there.

If you've got another pen ready, and want to feed them different, I'd say go ahead and pull the cockerels as soon as you can tell they're cockerels.
