Cheap is not good. IT IS GREAT! Haha. I was on a VERY tight budget with this run, which is why almost all of it is pallets or other free items off craigslist. The plastic sounds SO much easier, and less screw holes too for my wood! How do you attach it?

I just use furring strips (or anything I can get my hands on) kinda like wood trim, and use very small nails. Slap the plastic up, put a furring strip on top of it and nail it down. Works great and at the end of the winter I just rip it down (it's that cheap to be able to do that...I have in the past, however, saved large pieces to use for gardening, etc.) Takes 2 people...I know...I tried it the first time by myself...NOT!!

Thank you! I will totally be doing that!

You should have seen me trying to hang that door all by myself. I am sure it was comical if anyone saw. I was getting very frustrated! haha

Are you going to enclose there coop? And how many chickens are you planing on getting?
I think I never responded! There is a coop attached that has an enclosed area, although we have the side down during the day. The coop fit 2-4 chickens in the design and we had maxed it out at 4, and they seemed a bit cramped during the day, lots of room at night/inside. Now that they have the run they have a ton of room and seem happier. We can only have 4 chickens in our city. I wish they would change it to 6!

Well, don't feel alone by any stretch of the imagination! I'm 70 years old, single 'ol gal, and I made my door to my run all by myself. Didn't have any sawhorses so I had to build it on the ground...I just kept telling myself "you can do this...you can do this" and by gosh it actually came out pretty dang good! If you cock your head to the left it looks perfectly straight!!!

Built my nest boxes the other day for my young ladies "in waiting" and I set myself up right there at the run area. There they were, all 4 of them in a row, watching intently while I worked. I kept telling them "See? This is where you are going to lay your thousand-dollar-eggs for mommy...got it?" They turned out really nice, too. And my talking to them must have worked, because just yesterday while I was in the run I bent down to pet them like I always do, and one of them squatted...she really really squatted!! So I think we're in the home stretch now!

UPDATE! Well, one of my girls laid her first egg yesterday...WOOT!!
