I am wondering one can let me know when i can let ducklings free range my property in the day time, they would have access to a pond. do they have to be a certain age? there are other adult mallards in the area these ducklings would be roaming.

How old are they? and do you know if the pond has snapping turtles? and have you been taking the ducklings out and letting the adults meet them gradually?

they are only a week old yet, so i would not be letting them out yet. there are no snapping turtles in the pond. they have never met the other full grown ducks yet.

I'd give them another week then set up a small area with some kind of fencing they can't get through and on a nice warm day take them out and let the flock meet them through the fence. Keep doing this till ducklings are 4-5 weeks old by then they will all know each other and ducklings will be big enough and old enough to be with the adults. Be sure when you take them outside they have shade to get out of the hot sun and plenty of cool water and feed while outside. Have you posted pics yet? we'd love to see them.

47. have you ever seen a duckling with a underbite, I have one that is a week old, he is eating and drinking fine but he has a underbite.

I haven't seen one but I have read of it happening, Keep deep bowls out for water and feed so he can scoop. Can you post a pic? What are you going to do with 47 ducklings? You must live on a lake.

their is a lake just at the end of our property, i will try to get a pic of him.
