Help with a gosling

Wow, that's insane! I only have five juvenile ducks at the moment. Used to have cochins a few years back. I miss those birds, but once the weasels started snagging them I had to rehome the rest.

I believe my sick duck is starting to feel better, as I discovered him scooting across the ground using his wings and beak.

Also, this may just be wishful thinking, but as I was bringing Gatsby in for the night, I thought I saw his legs move a tiny bit, especially his left one.

Can he float on the water? might be good therapy

I have Muscovy ducks they are my favorites because they do not quack and they love mosquito's , their larvae and flies, very easy to keep here, make the best moms but will rip your skin off if they think you are a threat to their hatchlings.

Haha, good to know! Yeah, he can. I've been giving him a luke warm bath each morning. I have my one sick runner, two khaki campbells, and two rouens.

It was a snake bite found it up on it's little neck, small snake so that means babies are in that area, we will be moving that stuff ASAP which has been on the agenda anyhow the rains had stopped progress so i been running fence instead, i just had an old backhoe removed from that area a few weeks ago and that left a lowboy full of pipe there and there is crap under it so most likely that is where the bit occurred as it is right by the dry creek that is not dry right now.

How is your ducky this morning? have you tried giving it poly-vi sol without iron? i know a lack of niacin can occur and cause these kinds of problems in water fowl.

Just brought him outside so we will have to see. I did crumble part of a niacin tablet in a gallon of water and set it aside for him. He's been drinking that since yesterday morning.

Well i will keep him in my pet prayers for you

Will do! We think he actually got into some foxglove the day before he got sick, and the symptoms fit the bill, so I've mixed some active charcoal with his water to draw out the toxins. Will tell you if/when he gets better.
