We have a hen that didn't accept the new baby chick that was hatched tonight she pecked at it so i picked up the baby chick and put it back in the incubator to keep her warm for the night. Is that ok to do that or not? we have a brooder box to put her in but she will be alone. Will she die if she is alone? Please someone help us ASAP with this issue

If the chick was hatched in the incubator, it is better to put it in the brooder after exposing it it the hen. Bacteria from her nest could be transferred to any eggs still incubating.

If the hen hatched the chick put it in the brooder for the same reason.

Put a compact mirror in the brooder for the chick to see itself. A clean feather duster hanging in the brooder away from the light gives the chick a place to nestle and stay warm. You can also put a small stuffed animal for the chick to snuggle with until you have other chicks.

Try introducing the chick after it is a few days old. Slip it under the hen's wing at night.

Be sure to offer the chick crumbles and water. I like to put marbles in the water cup to encourage the chick to explore the water without getting in the cup. You can touch it's beak to the water to let it know what it is.
